Portrait of Aloïse Chabbert

From the field to digital solutions: a connected geologist

Portrait d'Aloïse Chabbert, géologue et Product Manager à Look Up Geoscience

Childhood and early passions

From a very young age, landscapes and rocks fascinated her. Aloïse felt as though the Earth was telling a grand story, one much bigger than herself. She would spend hours observing the natural world around her, asking questions, examining the strata visible to the naked eye, and imagining what they might reveal about our past. Little did she know that this childhood curiosity would grow into a passion—and eventually, a career.

Academic journey: a revelation

From the Université Saint-Charles in Marseille to the University of Montpellier, she specialized over the years in reservoir geology. What struck her most was the power of reading a landscape through the lens of geology: “With a single glance, I could trace millions of years of Earth’s history, understand the succession of environments, and take a mental journey through time. It was this blend of science and poetry that convinced me to make geology much more than just a job.”

Encounters and values

Every person Aloïse met played a role in shaping her life. Each, in their own way, influenced her choices and her path. “Over time, I learned to put things into perspective, to focus on what truly matters, and to commit to projects that align with my values—projects that make sense in the face of the challenges of the coming century.”

Key moments and a Worldview

Working within multicultural teams was a defining experience. This global exposure changed her perception of professional synergy. The diversity of approaches and cultures significantly enriched her ability to tackle technical and scientific challenges.

Geological expertise in service of software innovation

Her professional journey led her to work with major geology software tools: At SLB, as part of the Petrel development team, focusing on structural modeling and quality assurance—an experience that deepened her understanding of the importance of precision and reliability in geological models. At Eliis, with the PaleoScan development team as a Product Analyst—immersing herself in user needs analysis and the continuous improvement of software tools for geoscientists. Today, Aloïse is involved in creating an all-in-one software solution for Look Up Geoscience. “Alongside key users who form an active community, our goal is to shape a tool that is accessible, relevant, and intuitive: saving time, facilitating collaboration, and, above all, deepening our understanding of the subsurface for sustainable projects.”

A vision for the future

Understanding the subsurface is a major asset in the energy transition. From data integration to uncertainty estimation, result export, visualization, interpretation, and modeling, intelligent software solutions are more essential than ever for industry professionals. Her commitment? “To continue simplifying the daily work of geoscientists while addressing the environmental and energy challenges of our time.”
